Airport Security Management Solutions

Company CEM Systems Limited
Date 17.01.2011

A customer of CEM for over 15 years, Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has awarded CEM with a $2m security upgrade contract. HKIA will move from serial to IP card readers, with over 1000 CEM readers replaced with PicoPass smart card technology.

HKIA will also be rolling out a further biometric expansion of CEM fingerprint card readers.

The CEM S610f fingerprint reader offers HKIA increased security by providing three levels of identity checks at air-bridges, including ID card authentication, PIN check and fingerprint verification. The S610f has a large internal database which holds card and biometric templates at the door. This ensures zero system downtime at air-bridges.

CEM will also be developing a customised ‘Online Pass Application’ for HKIA, where all standard ID passes can be initially requested via the web.

The CEM AC2000 system has proven itself to be a highly reliable and powerful security management system at HKIA. The AC2000 upgrade will bring HKIA into the next generation of security measures that will continue to protect its 60,000 workforce and over 40 million passengers.
