Annapolis—ARINC Incorporated has announced that long-time customer McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, Nevada has opted to renew its contract for passenger processing systems. The ARINC-McCarran relationship began in 1996 when ARINC installed the first fully common-use passenger processing system at a top-ten U.S. domestic airport. The relationship has grown exponentially and recently marked a milestone with the implementation of ARINC technology into the airport’s new Terminal 3. The facility is now the most technologically-advanced airport terminal in North America.

Under the terms of the newly-renewed contract, ARINC will provide and maintain its fully-customizable vMUSE^TM platform for Common-Use Passenger Processing Systems (CUPPS), BagLink^TM RFID-based baggage messaging program, Common-Use Self Service (CUSS) kiosks, and Local Departure Control Systems. To date, more than 425 ARINC-provided CUSS kiosks are operating throughout McCarran International Airport, making it one of the largest common-use self-service check-in airports in the world. Whether passengers choose to use traditional check-in processes or take advantage of new solutions for self-tagging their own baggage and self-boarding at the gate, ARINC systems ensure an integrated and comprehensive passenger management process.

Other milestones in the contract history include the first use of a client-server local DCS at a high-volume U.S. international terminal in 1997; the implementation of more than 100 CUSS kiosks at a large-scale U.S. domestic airport in 2002-2003; the first integrated deployment of RFID for baggage tracking at the airport in 2004-2005; and the implementation of the airport’s first self-boarding gates in 2011.
