Stacker donation worth EUR 45,000 / Result of longstanding cooperation between TU Munich and Jungheinrich / Scientific research pivotal to development of new products and innovative solutions
On May 21st Jungheinrich donated two industrial trucks to the Institute for Materials Handling, Material Flow and Logistics (fml) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). One of the trucks was an EFG 220 electric counterbalance truck; the other was an EJC 112 electric pedestrian-controlled forklift. The monetary value of the Jungheinrich vehicles was around 45,000 euros.
Both vehicles were customised to match the requirements of the research institute, including power connections specially adapted to the stackers. “These were necessary so the appropriate measuring equipment could be connected and operated for research purposes,” explained Prof Dr.-Ing. Willibald Günthner from TU Munich, who accepted the donation on behalf of fml Institute. The EFG 220 was additionally equipped with a special assistance system from the TBM Hightech Control company worth EUR 5,000.
Jungheinrich has worked together closely with the fml Institute at the Technical University of Munich since 2003. According to Richard Brandstetter, General Manager of Jungheinrich Logistiksysteme GmbH in Moosburg, Germany: “’Apart from promoting research and education, these research findings are of enormous significance to us – in particular as regards the development of new products and innovative material handling solutions.”
At the handing-over ceremony for the donation, Günthner spoke of “an extremely fruitful partnership for both parties”. He stressed that the longstanding cooperation between Jungheinrich and TUM had resulted in enormous mutual benefits for both partners. One important example, he said, consisted of the fact that numerous fml research associates and graduates had been able to continue their careers at Jungheinrich. “Many of these people can now be found in leading management positions at Jungheinrich,” he concluded.
Dr Tobias Harzer, Head of the Jungheinrich sales centre in Bavaria, stated that the donation was intended to underscore the “close connection between the various Jungheinrich locations in Bavaria and the Technical University of Munich”.
