Airport Towing Trucks For Material Handling

Company Jungheinrich AG
Date 07.08.2015

Jungheinrich presents two products at "inter airport Europe" for the first time:

  • EZW 515 electric flatbed truck for fast transport of parts
  • EZS 580 tow tractor for airport applications

For the fourth time Jungheinrich will be showcasing its competence in vertical market solutions at “inter airport Europe 2015” – the world’s leading airport exhibition, running from 6th to 9th October in Munich. At its stand on the showground’s open-air site (stand E74), the Hamburg-based enterprise will feature numerous products and solutions geared to airport applications.

New Electro Flatbed Truck
The linchpin of Jungheinrich’s appearance at the show will consist of its range of flatbed trucks and tow tractors. In a premiere before the international trade audience at inter airport Europe, Jungheinrich will unveil a flatbed truck from its EZW 515 series. This versatile and rugged electric flatbed truck is designed to handle loads of up to 1.5 tonnes on its loading area and is suitable for virtually any kind of application – indoors or outdoors. “This vehicle can be used for the fast supply of parts to maintenance operations and is equally useful as a four-wheel tow tractor,” remarks Oliver Rosenthal, product manager for tow tractors at Jungheinrich.

Jungheinrich will additionally be showcasing its EZW 104 flatbed truck, which was especially designed for applications involving long distances either indoors or outdoors as well as for transporting people. “This truck makes it easy to handle long-distance jobs not only at airports, but also at exhibition centres and factory grounds as well as in industrial halls,” explains Rosenthal.

Electric Tow Tractor for Airport Applications
In another first at “inter airport Europe”, Jungheinrich will showcase its EZS 580 electric tow tractor – a versatile and economical vehicle which can be used to tow trailers up to a total weight of 8,000 kilograms. This robust tow tractor with sprung wheels is particularly suitable for airport applications.

The user can adjust the transport volume to the specific application requirements by hooking up a variable number of trailers. The coupling is easily reached from the operator’s seat. The maintenance-free 48-Volt three-phase AC motor provides for powerful acceleration and a high top speed. “The drive motor and drive control system for the EZS 580 are finely attuned to each other, resulting in a high rate of efficiency,” reports Rosenthal, adding that the tow tractor had “very low energy consumption even when towing heavy loads.” Jungheinrich’s range of tow tractors at the exhibition is rounded out by the heavy-duty EZS 6250 tractor with a towing capacity of 25 tonnes.

Jungheinrich Demonstrates Outstanding Competence in Special-build Vehicles
To demonstrate its distinctive competence in special-build vehicles, the Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist will feature its ETE 475 vehicle at “inter airport Europe“. Produced at the Jungheinrich special-build plant in Lüneburg, Germany, the truck is specially designed to meet client requirements in airport operations.

The ETE 475 represents a low-platform truck with triple forks and a lifting capacity of up to 7.5 tonnes. The vehicle is characterised by its short front section and, thanks to its electric 360° steering, an extremely short turning radius. This means the truck is also capable of transporting especially heavy loads – for example universal loading devices (ULDs) – in the tightest of spaces. “These ULDs can be placed on so-called ‘slave pallets’, making them extremely easy to pick up and transport,” says Rosenthal.

Jungheinrich’s tradeshow appearance will be rounded out by its EFG S30 – a high-performance, energy-efficient electric counterbalanced forklift from the company’s Moosburg plant in southern Germany (Bavaria). This vehicle is designed according to the company’s “Pure Energy” principle, which guarantees extremely low energy consumption, making it possible to operate the stacker over two shifts without needing to change the battery. The truck also features an ergonomic, intuitively operated driver workstation, including a completely redesigned, ergonomic armrest.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, logistics systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
