Airport Towing Trucks For Material Handling

Company Jungheinrich AG
Date 19.10.2011

Thanks to maintenance-free Jungheinrich 3-phase AC technology, the new electric pedestrian stacker is highly efficient but at the same time very economical and environment-friendly. This robust truck was constructed specifically for work-intensive applications in warehouses.

Jungheinrich will launch a new electric stacker in autumn 2011. This is a pedestrian stacker of the type EJC 214/216. The trucks are produced in the Jungheinrich Norderstedt factory and they are utilised in areas where performance efficiency is of particular importance. “High travelling performance, high lift heights, high residual capacities and long operating times with only one battery charge set this truck apart”, says Stefan Hirt, Head of Product Management for pedestrian trucks at Jungheinrich.

Powerful, economical and environment-friendly
This is achieved with a powerful 1.6 kW drive motor equipped with the latest generation of Jungheinrich 3-phase AC technology in 24 Volt. In combination with the truck control system developed entirely by Jungheinrich, the EJC 214/216 has an exceptionally high operating ratio. Stefan Hirt: “It stands for high travelling performance and low energy consumption respectively.” High residual capacities are mainly resulting from the robust construction of the Jungheinrich truck as well as a 4-wheel chassis.

The electronically controlled 3 kW lift motor enables the EJC 214/216 operator to lift loads very accurately and carefully. This above all facilitates the depositing of heavy pallets or box pallets in narrow racking aisles. Dependent on the equipment variant, the new electric stacker from Jungheinrich can transport loads up to 1.600 kg. Optionally available proportional hydraulics ensure a gentle and load-protecting depositing of goods in the racking or on the floor. The lowering speed is automatically reduced for the last 300 mm before depositing the load.

Various other options for the EJC 214/216 ensure easier operation, increased safety and considerably more effectiveness during operation of the new pedestrian stacker. The very low steering effort when applying electric tiller steering facilitates virtually fatigue-free steering of the stacker. “This applies in particular to the crawl speed mode“, explains Hirt, “when the operator has to manoeuvre the truck in very confined spaces with the tiller in an upright position.”  The long safety tiller and the enclosed truck contours also ensure a high degree of safety.

Considerable throughput increase during retrieval
Above all, the “LiftPlus” module will in future increase the retrieval of goods considerably. Lift speeds without load can be improved by up to 80 percent by applying this option. Initial tests have shown that about ten seconds per lift process can be gained when the forks are lifted above five metres. Stefan Hirt: “This means a considerable throughput increase during the retrieval of goods from high lift heights in a single cycle.“

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
