Moosburg (Bavaria) production site to be enlarged via a new factory

Hamburg—Jungheinrich will optimize its production processes and expand its manufacturing capacity. To this end, Jungheinrich Moosburg GmbH will build a new warehousing and system equipment plant in the Degernpoint commercial and industrial area in the immediate vicinity of the company’s existing manufacturing site in Moosburg. Construction is scheduled to start at the end of April 2012.

Jungheinrich expects prospects for growth to be good in the next few years and intends to equip its production sites for this in good time. An autonomous centre of excellence for warehousing and system equipment is to be set up in the Degernpoint commercial and industrial estate near Moosburg. These trucks are currently being produced in the main plant in Moosburg, the manufacturing capacity of which cannot be expanded any further. Some 40 million euros have been earmarked for the project. In 2008, the company had purchased a property of about 60,000 square metres in the Degernpoint industrial area in order to implement its expansion plans. “By building this new plant, we are making another important investment in the future of our company, which will enable us to generate sustainable growth,” says Hans-Georg Frey, Chairman of the Board of Management of Jungheinrich AG.

About 960 employees work at the Moosburg location at present, 260 of whom are assigned to the warehousing and system truck division. The latter will move to the new Degernpoint site, which is just under three kilometres away, once production commences there. Commissioning has been scheduled for the second half of 2013. Jungheinrich counterbalanced trucks will continue to be manufactured at the main Moosburg plant where production processes will be optimized in a second step and manufacturing capacity for counterbalanced trucks (battery and IC engine-powered) will be expanded.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
