Airport Towing Trucks For Material Handling

Company Jungheinrich AG
Date 10.10.2012

Jungheinrich has launched a new pedestrian pallet truck in the market. Compared with the previous model, the electric pedestrian pallet truck has up to eight percent more operating efficiency with up to 15 percent lower energy consumption at the same time.

The new Jungheinrich truck is an electric pedestrian pallet truck type ERE 120. It is a combined pedestrian/ride-on truck with a stand-on platform and it can move loads up to 2,000 kilogram. The main application area of the ERE 120 is transporting goods over longer distances in the warehouse as well as quick lorry loading and offloading.

The truck is produced at the Jungheinrich factory in Landsberg (Saxony-Anhalt/Germany) and is supplied in two performance grades. In addition to the basic model there will also be the ERE 120 Performance. “Economic efficiency was our priority during the design of our new electric pallet truck”, says Stefan Hirt, Head of Product Management for pedestrian trucks at Jungheinrich. Compared with the previous model, energy consumption fell by approximately 15 percent with an increase in load cycles by approximately eight percent. The required time for twenty VDI load cycles reduced from nearly 21 to slightly more than 19 seconds at the same time. Stefan Hirt: “To say it in a different way: The customer achieves considerably higher throughput efficiency in less time – and to top it, with significantly lower energy consumption.”

The compact construction of the ERE 120 also contributes towards an efficiency increase in operating procedures. The truck has the manoeuvrability of a pedestrian truck and the speed of a ride-on truck. It also has a powerful and maintenance-free 24 Volt motor of the current 3-phase AC generation with a particularly high efficiency ratio.

Particular attention was directed towards safety and driving comfort. In addition to the softly sprung stand-on platform, the complete power transmission chain is cushioned with ShockProtect. “This is a system that cushions vibrations and therefore significantly reduces stress on driver, goods and truck“, explains Stefan Hirt. Optional side supports not only increase safety for the driver but they are also the basis for being able to design a truck with such equipment for a maximum speed of up to 8.5 kilometres per hour.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
