Airport Towing Trucks For Material Handling

Company Jungheinrich AG
Date 09.10.2013

The new Jungheinrich tow tractor is particularly suitable for transporting people and small parts over long distances.

At the Munich-based “inter airport Europe 2013” trade fair, running from 08th to 11th October, Jungheinrich is throwing a spotlight on its new EPS 110 series tow tractor. The tractor was especially developed for transporting people and objects over long distances, both indoors and outdoors. According to Oliver Rosenthal, Product Manager for Tow Tractors at Jungheinrich, the new vehicle represents an efficient option for transport jobs involving “long distances at airports as well as trade fairs, factories and industrial halls.” The tow tractor comes with an optional platform for transporting goods – especially small parts – and can pull trailers with a composite weight of up to 1,000 kilograms.

Like all Jungheinrich electric forklifts, the new tow tractor EPS 110 is equipped with the latest three-phase AC technology, producing a high degree of efficiency at constantly low energy consumption rates. “This model is ideal for intensive tasks,” says Rosenthal, adding that the vehicle could reach speeds of up to 14 kilometres per hour. The tow tractor’s dynamic braking facilitates energy recovery, as “energy automatically flows back into the battery when the driving speed is lowered,” explains Rosenthal.

Safety and ergonomics played a big part in the design of the new tow tractor, which has a sprung platform for absorbing shocks and surface irregularities. The vehicle’s solid-rubber tyres contribute to vibration-free driving, and a special rubber mat keeps people safe from slipping or falling when being transported. The EPS 110 is also outfitted with a multifunctional tiller head with clearly labelled functions, says Rosenthal, commenting that this made for “enjoyable, intuitive, but above all, safe” operation of the tow tractor.

Jungheinrich ranks among the world’s leading companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors. The company is an intralogistics service and solution provider with manufacturing operations, which offers its customers a comprehensive range of forklift trucks, shelving systems, services and advice. Jungheinrich shares are traded on all German stock exchanges.
