Goldstar Heathrow - V-sol Live vehicle tracking system

V-SOL live vehicle tracking has helped Heathrow based distribution specialist Goldstar Heathrow expand its operations and improve efficiency, with the company now running 40 trucks and over 65 drivers using the tracking technology.

The company first deployed V-SOL vehicle tracking in 2000, when it turned over £350,000. At this time Goldstar had three trucks and wanted to improve its operational service and productivity to grow the business.

Since then it has grown to work with clients around the World, including Expeditors International (UK) Ltd and Ceva Logistics UK Ltd, providing seamless distribution out of its Heathrow headquarters and turning over £6m. Mark Bassil, managing director of Goldstar Heathrow, says: “The distribution industry has become increasingly competitive since we first started in 1998.  The companies that have survived and are trading well are those that offer the quality of service, operational control, and enhanced reporting to really make a difference to their own and their customers’ performance.

“Planning and management are key and this is where vehicle tracking really comes into its own.  Our growth and success is based on the efficient, secure delivery of goods, and customers know they can rely on us for accurate reporting every step of the way.  V-SOL’s vehicle tracking has been integral to achieving the productivity and performance we needed to become one of the largest operators out of Heathrow.”

The live vehicle tracking system is credited with improving operational efficiency and increasing productivity for Goldstar with the co-ordination of trucks and drivers now more effective and offering enhanced visibility.  In addition, the vehicle tracking accurately monitors driving hours to help with Government HGV driver regulations, while also managing driver hours and pay.

Customer service and reporting has also been enhanced through the V-SOL system, with Goldstar now able to report when a parcel is collected and delivered through the provision of reporting data that is 100% accurate.  Company and driver security is also key, with the tracking system monitoring when and where a truck is opened, enabling Goldstar to quickly act on criminal activity.

David Isom, managing director of V-SOL added: “We have worked with Goldstar Heathrow for over nine years, underlining the quality of our product and the expertise we offer to continually refine what the system delivers.

“The difference that a quality tracking system can make to a company’s operations is now recognised by many industries.  Improved productivity and efficiency, greater security, and enhanced customer relationships thanks to the quality of service and reporting you offer are just some of the benefits.  Get the right system and it will help boost performance across the board.”
