Airport Vending Kiosks Stand-alone/Multiple Units

Company Automated Retail Concepts BV
Date 15.10.2010

NETHERLANDS. Automated Retail Concepts, the Dutch developer of new self-service shopping concept The Shopping Wall, has introduced the first branded unit at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.

The unit has been launched in partnership with Schiphol Media and AKG, a leading manufacturer of high-end headphones.

AKG is targeting international travellers seeking a pair of headphones who are used to shopping online and are also interested in self-service shopping. The company said it liked the high visibility of the unit and the fact that passing travellers would see their brand name.

The Shopping Wall will be used by AKG until 14 January, after which it can be rented to other parties from Schiphol Media.

Automated Retail Concepts said it would develop more branded machines as demand for fresh ways of communicating with target groups is growing rapidly. There has been interest in the concept from several big brands, it added.

Automated Retail Concepts Managing Partner Eric van Velzen said: “Self-service shopping is the missing link between the Internet and the real world. That’s why they call it virtual reality.”
