Smiths Detection has signed an agreement with Canada’s Optosecurity to develop and distribute an advanced Checkpoint Enterprise Software Solution which will improve the overall performance of security checkpoints and reduce their operational costs.

The agreement, which followed the signing of a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) last year, will enable airports to integrate checkpoint technologies for better process control and provide additional capabilities such as remote screening operations.

Ian May, Vice President EMEA Region of Smiths Detection, said:  “The agreement leverages our global base of checkpoint products including X-rays, trace detectors, full body screening devices, and bottle screeners for liquid explosives with Optosecurity’s advanced technology solutions, software development, and rapid implementation. It will improve airport checkpoint throughput and offer significant opportunities for operational benefits".
