How airports can take advantage of upselling

Although those passing through an airport may not liken the experience to a trip to Disneyland it’s heading in that direction, both in terms of being enjoyable and how the airport generates revenue. According to a 2012 report Disney theme parks make almost 50% of their revenue from ancillary sales, and with many parallels between theme parks and airports the latter has a lot to learn about increasing profits in the same way.

While your average airport isn’t going to have the brand clout of Disney there are plenty of ways it can take advantage of ancillary revenues and upselling, using e-commerce systems and CRM solutions to promote services and products that are of value to its customers.
