Reputed to be the highest tower in the Latin America's, the VCR (Visual Control Room) at the top asked for a serious approach to Glare and Dazzle Control. Light Intensities in Cancun can be very high indeed, making it near enough impossible to see the computer screens in the VCR, about 90 metres above the ground. As a result of collaboration between the Spanish and Mexican Air Traffic Control Authorities (Reflex-Rol U.K. had previously fitted out the tower at Las Palmas, Gran Canaria), the contract was awarded to Reflex-Rol instead of more local companies.
There were one or two issues as can be seen from the pictures; although prior to flying out for the site survey we were assured all windows were ready for measuring, this was not quite the case. Not a window frame in sight and canvasses blowing in the wind 90 metres above the tarmac. Under our direction and with the help of 2 very brave Mayan Indians, exact dimensions were taking and the systems were produced.
The final result can also be seen at pictures below and as a result of this satisfying result, the Reflex-Rol 'Aviation' has now been specified for another tower / VCR in Mexico, to be installed sometime during 2013
