The project, co-financed by the European Commission, within the TEN-T framework program, concerns the feasibility study for the future development of an intermodal node for passenger transport at Venice Marco Polo International Airport.

The study analyses issues that directly plan and define a series of strategic interventions regarding: the air terminal expansion; the airport’s underground railway station that connects with both the Regional Light Rail Network (SFMR) and a new High Speed/High Capacity Rail (AV/AC) link to Milan and Trieste.

The study also covers a series of transport infrastructure components and facilities such as the sub-lagoon metro line between the airport and the Venetian islands, the People Mover, the Tram link with the Mestre Metropolitan area, pedestrian and road access to the airport and its car parks, ground level and multi-storey car parks, the new bus and water terminals, the Airport City District and all the various areas for food and retail facilities.
