ROMA URBE AIRPORT, ITALY
New Passenger Terminal
Client: ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority)
Year: 2004 – 2009

The implementation of the new terminal, along with to the aeroclub activities, is part of the investment program that ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority) is carrying on in order to consolidate the Roma Urbe airport’s general aviation traffic flow and helicopter connections.

The Roma Urbe Airport therefore is poised to develop a role as "city airport" offering accessibility for air connections with other airports, as it happens in other major cities around the world.

For this airport One Works chose an innovative architecture: minimum size to contain construction and management costs, functional routes for passengers in departure and arrival, a double height hall overlooking the aircraft and helicopter parking area and a wide opening towards the runway and the green bank of the Tevere River, the new terminal surely represents one of the first steps in this general re-organization program.

The lighting effects and finishes clearly define the building as an efficient and comfortable public space, recalling best-practice architecture, related to stations and public buildings.
