MILAN ORIO AL SERIO INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT – ORIO AL SERIO (BG), ITALY
Passenger Terminal extension
Client: SACBO SpA
Year: in progress
The restructuring and expansion project of the Orio al Serio Bergamo International Airport passenger terminal, part of the Milan airport system, has the objective of solving the needs of capacity and commercial growth.
In fact, it is one of the European airports that has grown more in the past 5 years. The innovative architectural concept allows the harmonic integration of the existing structure with new modular buildings, able to guarantee a capacity of 7 million passengers.
The extra large windows that characterize the two artifacts allow natural light to penetrate deeply into the buildings. The new interior spaces are finished with a red industrial wood floor. Moreover the passengers are guided along by a wall pattern featuring different colors depending on the specific area (security check points, boarding gates, food areas etc).
