Are you ready for the new standard ACR/PCR?

The pavement bearing capacity is a key point when it comes to the safety of runways.

Maintaining a secure runway for aircraft is vital considering the frequent landings and take-offs all over the world.

The new standard for testing airport pavement

Since 1981, it has been mandatory to report on the bearing capacity for airports using the ACN/PCN classification prescribed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Pavement design has evolved, and the International ICAO has introduced a new classification ACR/ PCR which will take effect in November 2024.

ACR stands for – Aircraft Classification Rating and tells how different aircraft affect pavements.

PCR stands for – Pavement Classification Rating and shows how much weight the pavement can carry.

By using this new ACR-PCR classification, airports can improve their operations, enhance safety, and plan better pavement maintenance.

The easy way to obtain the new classification ACR/PCR

The Dynatest software ELMOD 6 is now ready for the new ACR/PCR classification.

During the transition period, the previous ACN/PCN and the new classification ACR/PCR will co-exist while the new classification will gradually be implemented as the new standard at airports.

The new ACR/PCR classification will not affect how you are used to working with the Dynatest software ELMOD.

New ACR/PCR module for ELMOD 6

If you are a current user of ELMOD, calculating ACR/PCR is simply done by placing a check mark before performing the ACN/PCN calculation as usual.

When the calculation has finished, ELMOD saves both an Excel and PDF file with the results, allowing for both easy reporting and custom data processing.

The new ACR/PCR module for ELMOD 6 is now part of Dynatest´s new software platform DynaHub making installation and licensing easier than ever.

During the transition period, the new ACR/PCR classification can be calculated alongside ACN/PCN until it is fully applicable by November 2024 following FAA. AC150/5335-5D.
