ARINC - Airport Systems Integration Services

Company ARINC
Date 08.09.2010

ARINC Incorporated today announced it has successfully combined three of the industry’s most-wanted passenger processing applications in a single web-enabled, hosted solution.

By combining access to its market-proven ExpressDropSM, ExpressCheckSM, and OnVoySM passenger technologies from a single platform, ARINC can offer airports a powerful and cost-effective common-use solution for on-site and remote check-in and baggage drop. The solution uses a thin-client format easily deployed at any airline terminal, hotel lobby, or cruise terminal with a standard Internet connection.

ARINC has been testing the technology in a live trial at a major Japanese airport, and will demonstrate its solution at Booth 23 of the airport industry trade show Check-In 2010 at Las Vegas, NV, September 8-10.

“As many as 80% of today’s passengers do not use the airline counter to check in,” states Mike Picco, Vice President, ARINC Airport Systems. “They check in from work or from home, on the Internet, from the convention center, and on their cell phones. ARINC is responding to this major consumer shift by combining the three primary technologies airports need to keep pace—portable remote common-use check-in, highly efficient group check-in, and common-use bag drop.”

The three ARINC technologies are accessed from a single platform using a uniform interface for participating airlines. This greatly simplifies agent training. And because the system is hosted by ARINC with web-based access, the typically complex and costly local workstations of other common-use solutions are not needed—just a computer with a web browser and Internet access.

“This solution is ideal for today’s ground handlers, and for any airport seeking a practical common-use bag drop solution,” Picco continued. “It can be deployed cost-effectively at virtually all on-site and remote locations.”

ARINC ExpressDrop technology may also be interfaced with existing common-use systems, allowing agents to check bags and print baggage tags for multiple airlines at a single location. ARINC ExpressCheck is the industry’s leading off-site passenger check-in solution for common use. ARINC OnVoy was developed to speed groups of cruise line passengers checking in for airport flights. It has become the world’s leading off-site group check-in solution, used on 70+ ships of six major cruise lines, in hotels, convention centers, and other group settings, including Walt Disney World Resorts.

At Check-In 2010 Booth 23 ARINC is also exhibiting its MicroFIDSTM flight information displays for convention centers, smaller airports, hotels and train stations, as well as its vMUSE EnterpriseTM remotely hosted common-use check-in system.

ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland with regional headquarters in London and Singapore, ARINC is ISO 9001:2008 certified.
