Company ARINC
Date 16.03.2009

This shifting LMR landscape will be explored this week at the International Wireless Communications Expo 2009 (IWCE 2009) in Las Vegas, NV. David Chapman, an interoperability specialist at ARINC Incorporated, is a scheduled speaker at the IWCE Integrators’ Roundtable on Thursday, March 19. He will discuss LMR trends with other industry experts, and will offer a glimpse of an exciting future for the LMR industry, which includes innovations such as video communications.

“The introduction of P25 has created competition in the market and opened a whole new range of possibilities,” says Chapman. “We see a trend in the LMR market that mirrors changes in the IT market over the last several decades. Customers are now seeking multi-vendor systems with features they want at a price they can afford.”

Mike Jacobs, another ARINC speaker scheduled for IWCE, will describe the changes that lie ahead for transportation communications. Jacobs will speak at the IWCE session "Communications Networks for Transportation Systems in the 21st Century," starting at 10:00 a.m. March 19. He will cover future developments in air-ground data and voice networks, airport and rail communications, and asset tracking.

As a communications provider, ARINC is regularly involved with most types of transportation communications used around the world. “We are in an almost unique position to see upcoming developments across the spectrum, and the new capabilities that will be required to make transportation more efficient in the future,” he says.

ARINC carries over half of the world’s airline communications on its global networks, and provides major communications support for airports, law enforcement, government agencies, and defense. The company also supplies control and communications systems for most major passenger rail systems in the U.S.

ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland with regional headquarters in London and Singapore, ARINC is ISO 9001certified.
