Annapolis, Maryland—ARINC Incorporated announces the deployment of its Advance Passenger Information System (APIS) messaging service to support message transmission to the Costa Rica Immigration Agency. The service became operational June 4, 2009.

ARINC is Costa Rica’s second APIS message service provider. The company’s participation is a direct result of airline requests for an alternative APIS provider, in an effort to add price competitiveness and a higher level of service.

“Airlines now have an alternative provider for sending APIS messages to our country in a reliable and cost-effective manner,” stated Mrs. Roxana Quesada, Costa Rica Immigration Director–Airports.

ARINC’s Aviation Network Solutions Division installed the new APIS service with full cooperation from the IT staff of the Costa Rica Immigration Agency. The ARINC service interfaces seamlessly with Costa Rica’s existing proprietary back-end data system.

“ARINC greatly values the new working relationship we have established with Costa Rica’s Immigration Agency,” stated Yun Chong, ARINC Vice President, Aviation Network Solutions. “ARINC is eager to become an important technology partner and to assist Costa Rica in reaching its future Border Control objectives.”

As a prime contractor, ARINC is committed to providing network transport technology, messaging service, and message format translations in an effective, reliable, and cost-effective manner.

Industry-standard APIS messaging, part of the ARINC Electronic BordersTM security portfolio, is increasingly demanded by government agencies because it provides pre-arrival and pre-departure manifest data on all passengers and crew, improving the security of national borders.

ARINC Electronic Borders provides a portfolio of solutions to monitor and control the traffic of passengers entering or leaving a country via Air, Sea, or Ground. ARINC can tailor and scale each solution to meet specific customer requirements, while also meeting industry standards sought by international trade organizations and governments. The Costa Rica Immigration project signifies one more significant milestone in ARINC’s aim to become the region’s premier provider of Electronic Borders solutions.

ARINC Incorporated, a portfolio company of The Carlyle Group, provides communications, engineering and integration solutions for commercial, defense and government customers worldwide. Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland with regional headquarters in London and Singapore, ARINC is ISO 9001certified.
