Millions of passengers land and take off from KLIA every year, which mean that the Envac Automated Waste Collection System must be able to cope with an extreme load.
The system in KLIA is built in 5 phases serving the main terminal building, the flight kitchen, the airport satellite building, airport car parks and the airport landside hotel (Pan Pacific Hotel).
With a floor area amounting to 360,000sm, the main terminal building consisted of 36 numbers of refuse chutes with more than 3,000m of refuse pipes connecting them to the collection station.
A kitchen waste system was implemented for the both flight kitchen and the Landside Hotel to serve about 35,000 meals a day.
In the Satellite building about 2,500m of refuse pipe were used to connect the 31 chutes to the collection station.
The system was also connected to the airport car parks which consist of 4 multi-storey blocks.
