SMS Logistiksysteme GmbH and Unitechnik Systems GmbH are entering into a strategic cooperation. Under the new brand ACUNIS the companies are bundling their expertise in the airport sector. ACUNIS stands for Air Cargo Intralogistics and focuses on innovative and efficient solutions for air cargo management. Users profit from customer-specific storage, transport and handling systems including full automation from a single source.

ACUNIS supplies turnkey solutions for air cargo terminals. The brand combines two companies with market experience and distinct expertise in plant engineering and automation. The products and services ACUNIS offers extend from complete engineering of a cargo terminal, through high-bay storage systems, stacker cranes, roller conveyors and workstations including automation and inventory control systems, to erection, installation and start-up of equipment. "SMS Logistiksysteme and Unitechnik have been cooperating successfully for over ten years on heavy-duty projects. With our cooperation and the resulting new ACUNIS brand, we are now establishing ourselves even more on the market as a strong partner for air cargo logistics," explains Wolfgang Cieplik, Managing Director at Unitechnik Systems GmbH. "We thus have both the necessary know-how as well as the capacities to realize large-scale projects, like the current job assignment at the Addis Ababa airport in Ethiopia."

Within the framework of the cooperation, SMS Logistiksysteme is responsible for load transport, handling and storage. The global market leader and supplier of logistics systems for the steel and aluminum industry has been active in intralogistics for over 50 years and has numerous references, also in airport logistics. Unitechnik Systems brings automation and software competence to the partnership. As a logistics company, Unitechnik Systems has been serving the global air cargo market since 1992. In the beginning, the company's activities were directed by ICM Airport Technics, part of the Unitechnik Group since 2004. Unitechnik's focus is on logistics systems, production automation and switchgear construction. In the air cargo sector, Unitechnik Systems has built numerous facilities that can serve as references, for example, in Germany, Sweden, Dubai, Taiwan, Ethiopia, South Africa and in the USA. With their collaboration, SMS Logistiksysteme and Unitechnik respond to the demands of the global airport business. The need for rapid, efficient and economic logistics solutions has increased significantly in the sector over the past few years.

One single point of contact for the customer

To ensure short communication channels, minimum coordination procedures and prompt service, SMS Logistiksysteme GmbH will take on the marketing and customer support for the new brand. Since SMS Logistiksysteme belongs to the SMS group, ACUNIS will be in a position to act as a competent and reliable general contractor for large-scale air cargo projects and to develop customized financing schemes for customer projects.
