Kilfrost, the global leader in de/anti-icing solutions, has reported a surge in demand for its environmentally-driven Sustain products in New Zealand.  Air New Zealand and distribution supply chain specialist Aviall have purchased 27 tonnes of Sustain products over the past 12 months.

Developed in partnership with DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, Sustain is the world's first range of aviation de-icing and anti-icing products derived from a corn sugar-based glycol, which is a wholly renewable source.

Kilfrost provides a wide variety of de/anti-icing products for the aviation industry that meet international standards.  Its products fall into two main groups: aviation de/anti-icing products and ice protection fluids for general aviation applications.  Kilfrost DFSustain Type I fluid is primarily used for de-icing purposes while Kilfrost DFsustain Type IV fluid offers maximum anti-icing holdover protection, but can also be used for de-icing.

Gary Lydiate, Chief Executive of Kilfrost comments: "All our sustainable products offer significant environmental benefits in terms of carbon savings and low toxicity, yet with no compromise in terms of performance and functionality.  We are delighted that the New Zealand aviation marketplace has recognised the benefits that our Sustain products can deliver from a performance as well as an environmental point of view."

Steve Hurff, Vice President of Marketing & Sales at DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio Products, said: "We congratulate Kilfrost on the continued success of Sustain.  Sustainability is increasingly important within the airline industry, and the investment by Air New Zealand and Aviall continues to demonstrate that products based on rapidly renewable resources can deliver the high performance that the market demands."

For over 80 years Kilfrost has led the global de/anti-icing market and is proud to work closely with customers in over 63 countries across five continents. With facilities in the UK, Europe, North America, Japan and China. Kilfrost's Winter Division delivers its safety-critical de/anti-icing products to the Aviation, Rail and Ground De-icing sectors. Kilfrost is also developing its Speciality Fluids Division, which provides a range of dynamic fluids for use in various industrial applications. Its world-renowned R&D facility continues to develop ground breaking new products, and the company is continuing to invest heavily in the innovation of ever-more environmentally-friendly solutions.
