Mott MacDonald was appointed as lenders technical and market advisor for the $300 million international terminal building at Istanbul Ataturk Airport in 1997, the new domestic-international passenger terminal at Ankara Esenboga Airport in 2004, and the new domestic-international passenger terminal building at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport in 2005.

In Istanbul, Mott MacDonald has been acting as lenders technical advisor subsequent to TAV winning the second concession, providing advice during the refinance, additional construction and operations phases since 2005.

At each airport, the lenders appointed Mott MacDonald to review the project and report on any key areas of contractual, commercial, construction, environmental and operating risk protecting the lender's interests during all the project phases.

We were also responsible for three phases of works at each airport. In Phase 1, our aviation experts undertook a preliminary due diligence review of traffic forecasts and scenarios, revenues and financial model inputs, and the engineering procurement construction cost plan and completion date.

For phase 2, we reviewed the project and reported to the financiers on key areas of contractual and construction risk. Now in phase 3, we are reviewing the airport's performance in terms of operations, traffic and finance.

At Antalya, Mott MacDonald advised HVB on the developments proposed by the operator ICF – a joint venture between Fraport and IC Holdings – on the 17 year concession of Europe's second most busy tourist airport.
