Innovative technology – double the functionality

In producing the new electromechanical 730D torque wrench, Stahlwille has booked another worldwide "first". This manufacturer of precision tools, based in Germany, has combined the principle of the "clicking" torque wrench with the added benefits of the electronic versions in a single tool. As a result, users of the 730D can look forward to a new era of process capability.

Once the preset torque for the joint has been reached, which is electronically monitored, the tool responds by providing the usual tactile feedback. The torque actually applied is displayed and can be evaluated immediately. As a result, there is no longer the need for a check using an indicating torque wrench, hitherto necessary in many fields of industry. This reading can then be stored for further data processing and documenting purposes and later transferred to a PC via the USB interface. If the mode of operation is switched to "Indicating", this clicking torque wrench becomes an electronic indicating torque wrench. The same display function is available for anticlockwise torque. The guaranteed error margin is ± 2%.

Up to 7,500 readings can be set, displayed and stored electronically. For each separate joint, negative and positive tolerances can be individually defined. Once the predefined tightening torque has been reached, the display turns green. If the torquing action finishes outside the tolerance range, the display turns red. Conversion from "Nm" to "ft.lb" and "in.lb" is automatic. If a different extension is entered, it is automatically taken into account. Complex conversion calculations are no longer required.

Since the 730D model is a very precise tool, Stahlwille offers it in three generous measuring ranges: 10 – 100, 20 – 200, 40 – 400 Nm.

If there is a danger of the tool being overloaded, the user is warned in good time both acoustically and by a visual warning. The automatic key-lock function prevents inadvertent changes to settings. Additionally, the user can protect settings by assigning a PIN code. Each joint can be stored using a four-digit identifier. All the tightening parameters relating to that joint are then stored under the chosen identifier.

Further benefits of this precision tool are the automatic display of the next calibration date, adjustment when necessary without dismantling the tool, rapid interchange of various insert tools using the quick-release safety lock and very low power requirements.
