Aviation/Aircraft De-Icing & Anti-Icing Fluids

Kilfrost, a global manufacturer of de/anti-icing fluids for aircrafts and runways, has begun manufacturing its products in China.

Kilfrost recently signed an agreement with a Chinese partner to produce Type I and II fluids locally and the first batch was produced on 21st May.

The local manufacturing facility was set up to meet local demand for Kilfrost’s products. The facility will improve business efficiency significantly and reduce lead time considerably – from six to eight weeks down to less than a week for most local customers.

Kilfrost has over 80 years’ experience in delivering safety critical de/anti-icing products to the aviation industry, supplying customers in 76 countries and five continents. Raw materials and concentrates have been shipped from Kilfrost’s UK headquarters, meaning the new facility in China will produce the exact same quality of fluid as is manufactured in the UK.

Kilfrost (Beijing) Trading Co. Ltd. was established in November 2010 and currently services China Eastern Airlines and China Postal Airlines, as well as Shanghai Pudong Airport and Nanjing Lukou International Airport, amongst others.

Kilfrost’s Chief Executive Gary Lydiate commented: “The successful manufacture of our first blend in China marks the beginning of a new era for Kilfrost. Demand for our products has been growing over the past five years and we felt it was the right time to set up local production. This will allow us to reduce lead times and improve our response to customer needs during extreme weather conditions.

“China will now become a strategic base for us as we grow our operations throughout Asia. This sends out an important message to our customers, as well as aviation authorities, that we are committed to the Asian market and intend to grow our presence.”
