Autotech is delighted to announce that Bob Curson has agreed to join the senior management board as a non-executive director.

Bob will add a wealth of expertise to the management team as he was formerly Chairman and CEO of Comau Estil, as well as a member of the Comau SpA board, between 2000 and 2006. He began his career, though, on the shop floor. After an engineering apprenticeship with SKF, Bob quickly climbed his way up the organisation, becoming Factory Manager in 1975. After senior management positions in three other engineering companies, he formed Estil, an automation tooling and systems manufacturing company, in 1986.

Following a series of acquisitions, Estil became the largest supplier of automation systems in the UK. The company’s customer base included the major motor brands Ford, Jaguar, Aston Martin, Lotus, Rolls-Royce, Land Rover, Volvo, Nissan and Honda. In 1996, Bob sold a 49% stake in Estil to Pico, the largest automation supplier to the car industry in the US. In 2000, when Pico/Estil was acquired by Comau – part of the Fiat organisation – Bob became Chairman and CEO of Comau Estil in the UK.

With this vast automotive industry know-how and acquisition expertise behind him, Bob is superbly qualified to advise Autotech’s board on high-level strategic planning issues.

In his spare time, Bob, 60, enjoys playing golf and watching football at all levels. He sits on the Supervisory Board of Luton Town Football Club and is involved in two charities that promote academic and sporting skills for young people.
