Date 21.03.2013

New York, NY – Vanderlande Industries was selected by JFKIAT, LLC, which operates Terminal 4 at John F. Kennedy International Airport, as its official baggage handling system and Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) operations and maintenance provider.

The seven-year agreement comes on the heels of JFKIAT’s selection in September 2012 of Vanderlande Industries as the operator of the terminal’s all new baggage handling system, which will open in early 2013. Michiel Peters, Global CEO of Vanderlande Industries and Ewout Cassee, President of Vanderlande Industries North America, joined JFKIAT’s Alain Maca, President, and Michael Sibilia, CFO for the contract signing on November 16, 2012.

Vanderlande’s Customer Services Division  is responsible for baggage system maintenance and operations at Terminal 4, which is currently undergoing a major expansion and will become the new home to Delta Air Lines Inc. at JFK. The first seven years of the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) contract totals over $30.5M. After the initial term, two (2) five-year extensions are optional bringing the contract’s total potential value  to over $70M.

Vanderlande Industries is responsible for all operations and maintenance on the $53M baggage handling system currently in use at Terminal 4 and will also manage the new in-line baggage system to be completed in the first quarter of 2013.  In addition, the Customer Services group will maintain a substantial Passenger Boarding Bridge (PBB) scope. The PBB are inclusive of multiple Airbus A380 boarding bridges, which reach more than 28 feet  from the tarmac. Implementation of the service contract already began in October with an official “go-live” date set for May 2013.

Vanderlande President, Ewout Cassee said, “Vanderlande began its relationship with JFKIAT with the installation of our baggage handling system in 2011. We are extremely honored that they have now chosen to expand the scope of our relationship to include our operations and maintenance team.  Our Customer Services team looks forward to a long, successful partnership with JFKIAT.”

“The new in-line baggage system being completed by Vanderlande is one of the most significant benefits of the major expansion project at Terminal 4. We’re pleased to enter this agreement with Vanderlande and to be able to provide the airlines and passengers at Terminal 4 with one of the most modern and efficient baggage systems available,” said Alain Maca, President, JFKIAT, LLC.

JFKIAT is the only privatized, non-airline management company to operate a terminal at a major U.S. international airport.  Terminal 4 is one of New York City’s busiest terminals with 30 international and domestic carriers and is expected to reach an annual passenger volume of over 12 million travelers in 2013.
