The revolutionary TRS automatic tray return system from UK-based Herbert Systems will be the focal point of the I.O. Systems stand (stand no A100) at the Airport Show Dubai this year (6th – 8th May).

The Herbert TRS is a highly flexible modular system for handling cabin baggage. IATA-sized trays are presented automatically to each passenger at the security checkpoint at the right height for loading. Without having to wait for security staff, passengers can load the tray immediately, speeding up throughput and reducing queuing and stress. Trays pass along the line at a pre-defined spacing. At the end of the line, the trays are automatically returned, without staff having to lift or move them.

116 Herbert TRS systems are being supplied and installed by I.O. Systems at Dubai International Airport to speed passenger throughput, reduce queuing and enable security staff to work more efficiently.

At the request of the Dubai Airport Operations group, one complete lane was trialled at the Airport in Dubai over a 15 month period for them to evaluate the performance of the system. The Airport had a target in excess of 300 passengers per hour throughput, or there would have been no benefit in considering a new installation. The Herbert TRS averaged in excess of 400 passengers per hour, which was well above the Airport’s expectations.

This order through I.O. Systems is the largest single order for the Herbert TRS since Herbert Systems launched the TRS last year.
