Herbert Systems, the UK-based passenger throughput solutions providers, will be introducing the latest designs and enhancements for their TRS tray return system at this year’s Passenger Terminal Expo at Fira Barcelona on 25th – 27th March.

Herbert are launching a variety of new developments in tray and baggage processing at security checkpoints. These include high throughput systems for maximum passenger numbers at major hub airports, simple low cost systems for smaller regional airports, passenger centric parallel divestment lanes, which allow a number of passengers to divest at the same time, and lanes that can handle a combination of trays and baggage.

The modular Herbert TRS checkpoint systems seek to reduce queuing, move people more efficiently, improve security and efficiency of staff to create a more pleasant experience for passengers and help airports increase their footfall and profitability. It can be configured to suit the space available, levels of footfall and airports’ operational needs, and is designed to integrate with all principal X-ray systems.

A key feature of the TRS is centralised remote screening with eVelocity integrated security screening software, from Canada-based Optosecurity, which is also featured on the stand.

eVelocity, together with Herbert TRS, reshapes the checkpoint process to address present and future challenges and requirements. It can be configured to allow screening staff to be located remotely from the security area in a controlled environment where they can concentrate fully on the security operation. All the X-ray data from any number of checkpoints is fed into a single network, where the images can be analysed by security screeners and any suspect baggage immediately identified.

A further feature is the TRS Connect simple to use management reporting system that provides airport operators with a wealth of real time information on machine efficiency, including number of trays dispensed, number of trays diverted for search, process time per tray and running time per day/week/month/year. It is also provides valuable maintenance information regarding downtime, component replacement requirements and system mal-functions.

Herbert Systems and Optosecurity are on stand no 1248 in Hall 8.
