Baggage Handling Tracking Systems, Design & Consultancy, Automatic Tray Return Systems

Company Herbert Systems
Date 05.09.2012

In 2012, the company celebrates 40 years in the handling equipment industry. Herbert Systems entered the airport sector after developing ‘on spec’ an endless baggage conveyor belt system for a major international airport that, in the event of breakdown, could be changed within 10 minutes.

The previous system in use was prone to breakdown and would take around four hours to fix. This, in turn, caused huge delays to passengers and, on one occasion, one of them was the company’s founder and chairman, Rod Herbert. Working with his engineering team, he developed the easily maintained endless system and presented it to the airport’s operators. This one idea cemented Herbert Systems’ reputation as an innovator and has since led to the installation of multiple baggage handling systems and over 400 conveyors in airports the world over.

Now well established in the industry, Herbert Systems, who are based in Marshland St James in Cambridgeshire, manufactures an outstanding range of conveying equipment, which has been developed for airport engineers and operators to increase throughput, reduce running costs, lower maintenance requirements and improve the passenger experience. Each one has been developed by working with the operators themselves, looking where improvements can be made, identifying problems and successfully developing workable and efficient solutions.
