Baku Airport receives 5-star Skytrax rating

Heathrow in London and Charles de Gaulle in Paris have a 4-star rating

The Skytrax consulting company has rated the Heydar Aliyev International Airport in Baku in its World Airport Awards as being on par with airports such as Changi (Singapore), Chubu (Japan), Haikou Meilan (China), Hamad (Qatar), Hong Kong, Incheon (South Korea), Munich (Germany) and Tokyo Haneda (Japan). All these airports have been awarded with a 5-star rating, Skytrax’s highest award.

Skytrax is an influential British consulting company, assessing the quality of airline and airport services around the world. Airport inspections conducted by Skytrax are considered to be the industry standard in quality.

The Skytrax website lists the ratings of airlines and airports according to various criteria: from the quality of shopping at the airport to the convenience of terminals. Places are rated and awarded stars based on surveys conducted with passengers. People are asked questions about the quality of staff, queues at check-in desks, cleanliness of terminals and other criteria.

We have asked inhabitants of Baku what they like at the Heydar Aliyev airport, and received the following answers:

  • free internet of excellent quality;
  • cleanliness;
  • polite staff;
  • a good design, which allows the passengers not to feel confined.
