Biral looks back on another year of growth following a successful 2022

With a new year now upon us, meteorological experts Biral has reflected on 2022 as another year of growth, which saw its products chosen for some renowned global projects as well as the company celebrating the 10-year anniversary of its BTD range of thunderstorm detectors.

While the last 12 months have presented new challenges, Biral’s involvement in some high profile installations has continued to grow. In January, Biral’s VPF-750 sensors were chosen as part of the Croatian National Weather Observation Network’s latest modernisation project.

This was followed by Biral’s BTD-200 lightning detector being selected and installed at Poland’s largest solar farm during the spring. The 100-hectare site in Brudzew is part of a substantial project with Polish meteorological firm Comet. Building on this success, Biral also won a major project with the Hellenic National Meteorological Service in June, where its SWS-250 sensors were installed across Greece.

This summer Biral went on to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of its innovative BTD technology, dating from when Biral’s prototype BTD-300 detected its first thunderstorm. Biral’s own BTD-300 has detected ~140 thunderstorms within 20km of its home in Portishead, UK.

With 2022 seeing the return of in-person events, Biral’s exhibition highlights include attending InterMet Asia in Singapore, the Shipbuilding, Machinery and Marine Technology trade fair (SMM) in Hamburg and the Met Tech World Expo in Paris.
