Black Box Corporation, an industry-leading provider of keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) connectivity and signal distribution systems, today proudly announces its high-performance Emerald™ KVM Platform has been awarded the TVB Europe “Best of Show” title at IBC 2018. Black Box was honored for developing a highly-flexible, future-proof and high-performing KVM switching platform that connects operators, editors and directors with remote computers in mission-critical environments, including broadcast and media production.
“Today’s broadcast technology landscape is rapidly changing, and many of our customers are looking for new KVM technologies that provide connectivity to both local and virtualized assets anywhere on their network,” said Josh Whitney, Senior Vice President – Technology Product Solutions business at Black Box. “We’re proud to say our development team in Ireland has done a great job in creating a best-in-class technology solution that meets and exceeds these requirements and provides future-proof connectivity for businesses of all sizes.”
First presented at NAB 2018, Emerald Unified 4K KVM is a unique KVM matrix switching solution that supports HD and 4K video at 60 Hz and 10-bit color depth, enabling pixel-perfect 4K image transmission with mathematically lossless compression, as well as transparent USB 2.0 and bidirectional audio. With Emerald, users no longer have to choose between IP-based or proprietary signal transmissions, as the platform supports mixed networks. The solution also provides full support for virtualized IT environments, enabling connectivity for any combination of physical and virtual servers within a single KVM network. This gives operators a smooth and easy migration path to virtualization. The Emerald KVM platform offers virtual machine support for VMware®, Microsoft® and Citrix® using RDP/RemoteFX and PCoIP. This enables users to scale operations at their own pace across buildings, campuses and wide area networks, while using their existing network infrastructure. It also gives users the ability to switch between sources at speeds of less than a second using IP or faster in a direct-connect matrix.
“Emerald is a revolutionary solution for IT planners, integrators and end users looking for futureproof KVM technology that won’t lock them into specific switches, number of end-points, resolutions or transmission distances,” said Whitney. “As we continue to expand the Emerald family with new features, extenders and support for other KVM platforms, our customers will benefit from the most cost-efficient migration path. Emerald truly is the future of KVM, and we’re proud to have received the ‘Best of Show’ award at IBC 2018.”
