In the framework of the Master Plan of Oslo Airport one important issue are the de-icing operations. Due to the climate conditions at OSL de-icing operations play an important role on many days of the year. To guarantee a defined quality of the de-icing operations therefore is of major relevance for the overall operational quality of the airport.

In order to provide a general quality assessment of the planned configuration a CAST Aircraft simulation study focussing on the de-icing operations has been made.

Starting  with an baseline model approved by OSL-experts several future scenarios have been simulated and evaluated. An important part of the success is based on the powerful and flexible traffic management and control functionalities of CAST, which allowed a detailed and correct simulation of the processes at OSL. Besides detailed quantitative results the visualisation has been highly appreciated.
