COMSOFT GmbH - Solution provider and consultant to the Air Traffic Management sector

Switzerland’s Military Approach Control System (MALS Plus) programme, replacing military radars and associated equipment for the Swiss Armed Forces, opted for COMSOFT’s proven display solution.

Karlsruhe/Germany, March 2010 – In the course of modernising the approach control system for five military airfields in Switzerland, COMSOFT has been chosen for the supply of modern display automation systems providing the interface to future airport surveillance and precision approach radars supplied by main contractor EADS and further subcontractors. The field-proven display system is a further development of recently site-accepted solution ASR-DAS for the processing and visualisation of local surveillance data and weather information.

The contracted components are part of COMSOFT’s modular ATC automation solution PRISMA, designed for the precise representation of the current air situation. Including nine working positions per site, the deliverables will be fully integrated into the existing ATC and recording environment, the latter one being COMSOFT’s flexible recording platform R2D2. Besides an intuitive HMI, the solution also includes system health monitoring and control features for the connected radars.

MALS Plus’ contracting entity armasuisse is the federal competence centre for the procurement of technologically complex systems and equipment, security relevant technologies and quality management. They impose the successive enhancement of obsolete surveillance technology through replacing existing systems by 2016. These measures are part of the overall drive to maximise the quality and safety of approach control at the involved airfields, surveillance of surrounding area as well as for the improved coordination of civil and military traffic.
