Additional RMCDE components will boost the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority’s (HCAA) surveillance data distribution and conversion performance.

The Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority (HCAA) has signed firm order with COMSOFT for the supply of a fully redundant Radar Message Conversion and Distribution Equipment (RMCDE) to be deployed in Athens. RMCDE is a native ASTERIX engine and will allow HCAA to handle the smooth conversion and flexible distribution of Greece’s radar and ADS-B data. Furthermore, HCAA requested the implementation of their specific tracker format in RMCDE. This custom extension allows HCAA for the first time to fully integrate the existing tracker with other systems in their surveillance infrastructure.

The new equipment is a major upgrade of the existing RMCDE system, which was initially delivered in the scope of CRISTAL trials for ADS-B evaluation in 2006. Upon implementation of the new components, HCAA will benefit from RMCDE’s powerful redundant conversion and surveillance data distribution features well proven in various national and transnational infrastructures such as the European RADNET or the Polish PRANET.

Their positive experience drawn from several years of evaluating a test system has eventually led to the Greek ANSP’s certainty of the benefits a permanent deployment the fully-featured RMCDE will bring.
