COMSOFT GmbH - Solution provider and consultant to the Air Traffic Management sector

New display solutions for the surveillance of two military airfields in Switzerland are now fully operational.

Two advanced display solutions supplied by COMSOFT were taken into operation in Emmen and Payerne at the end of August. On behalf of armasuisse the German surveillance expert customised and installed this modern automation solution for the Swiss Armed Forces’ airport surveillance radar with the purpose to provide radar approach control as well as support of tower control. The displays and additional components – such as a tracker for optimised visualisation of the single radar serving as source and the earlier installed recording platform R2D2® – are both individual modules to be found in the portfolio of COMSOFT’s versatile ATC automation solution PRISMA. The recently commissioned display solution not only processes surveillance data in an efficient manner but also incorporates an interface to the local weather system in order to present the current air situation in one integrated picture.

skyguide, who provide air navigation services for the entire Swiss airspace, warmly welcomed the completion of the project and the new features in their operational environment. As the system is based on a modular and open architecture it facilitates possible future extensions. Most likely a considerable part of its software components as well as a collection of valuable experiences can be transferred for the impending MALS Plus project, replacing the airport surveillance radar and associated equipment.

armasuisse, the federal competence centre for the procurement of technologically complex systems and equipment, security relevant technologies and quality management had contracted COMSOFT based upon their experience and auspicious results achieved in a processor project carried out in 2008.
