COMSOFT provides NATS with the latest ARTAS version V8A on G6 platforms, continuing their successful relationship. Deployment of ARTAS will be a critical part of the NATS programme to provide identical ATM architectures at their Prestwick and Swanwick ATCCs.

WHITELEY/UK, October 2010 – British air navigation service provider (ANSP) NATS ordered nine additional ARTAS systems for three locations: Swanwick, Prestwick, and Whiteley. Each centre will successively be equipped with both operational and test & development systems. Completion of this multi-phased project is scheduled for the end of 2012.

COMSOFT will not only provide NATS with low risk ARTAS turnkey installations, but also a broad scope of services such as set-up and installation of the ARTAS systems according to NATS' configuration requirements; on-site installation & integration; factory and site acceptance testing; basic and fine tuning, as well as training and documentation.

The German ATC/ATM expert already delivered a test & development system to Whiteley in June this year, the first step in meeting NATS strategic requirements for an advanced surveillance tracker and server. COMSOFT were chosen as the ARTAS supplier based on their ability to provide a cost-effective technical solution that satisfies the objectives of the NATS surveillance thread development programme.

COMSOFT's and NATS' business cooperation dates back to the early 90's. Back then the country-spanning radar data network UK Radnet, and later ERCAMS, the control and monitoring infrastructure supervising all radar stations located in the United Kingdom were implemented. In 2008, the two partners signed a strategic framework agreement, aiming at further deepening their long-term cooperation in the ATC business.

ARTAS is the European ATM SuRveillance Tracker and Server and was developed by EUROCONTROL on behalf of its member states back in the 90's. COMSOFT has operated as their industry partner since 2001 and today benefits from the unmatched expertise in this field gained through the CAMOS (Centralised ARTAS Maintenance and Operational Support) service rendering for almost a decade.
