COMSOFT has completed the development and installation of a specialized recording and data analysis project for the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration FMV.

Karlsruhe/Germany, STOCKHOLM/SWEDEN, January 2010 – FMV has taken into operational service its new Radar Analysis and Debriefing System (RADS) provided by German COMSOFT. This powerful recording solution for online and offline data is based on COMSOFT’s standard recording/analysis platform. It has been enriched with customized extensions for FMV typical protocols, formats and special requirements. The new RADS is composed of one national site with two identical, self-synchronizing subsystems, as well as of two independent mobile systems.

Main surveillance data source for the new system is the Swedish SENDNET, a radar data network implemented by COMSOFT in 2001. In order to store recordings and results a storage area network (SAN) with a large and expandable capacity is used. Safe long-term archiving of data has been made feasible by integrating Blu-ray technology that is certified for robot mastering. The systems user interface was realized by RADS’ advanced radar analysis module (RAM) which has its origins in COMSOFT’s radar monitoring display RMD. However, its existing characteristics have been considerably enhanced. The advanced functionality now allows e.g. automatic and manual creation of tracks, forward and backward replay, integration of audio files and many more. In addition, entire movie sequences can be created incorporating arbitrary radar sources and audio information. Finally, vector and raster maps can be handled as layered and transparent and interchangeable background pictures.

To complete the package COMSOFT’s versatile network and management tool CNMS has been added for supervision purposes. The stringent security requirements were met by using Linux openLDAP for central user management. Moreover, user access has been safeguarded against unauthorized actions via smart cards.
