KARLSRUHE/GERMANY, June 2009 –

Two important ARTAS development projects are now on the verge of operational use. While AWA is the evolution of the ARTAS V7A1 baseline to the new ARTAS version V8A, the Patch Set 3 (PS3) delivers all latest enhancements to the V7A1 software version. The acceptance tests have been conducted at COMSOFT’s headquarters in Karlsruhe, Germany observed by EUROCONTROL and attended by several representatives of the growing ARTAS user community.

With V8A the tracker now supports Wide Area Multilateration sources and ADS C services. Once implemented, ARTAS is destined to further expand its position as one of the most advanced multisensor tracking systems in the world. ARTAS can now process information from the latest surveillance technologies in addition to data from conventional sensors. Further verification activities will be concluded until the lauch of the final AWA release, which is expected by September 2009.

Patch sets conveniently provide ARTAS users with updates to synchronize their systems with latest developments and enhancements derived from expertise gained in the field. The current patch set delivers amongst others change proposals that enhance vertical tracking, provide more control of surveillance data channels to be used by tracking, and add support of aircraft with wake turbulence category ‘super-heavy’ such as the Airbus A380.
