Date 04.04.2013

Counter Terror Expo, 24th-25th April 2013, has expanded its hugely successful IEDD Live Demonstration area for this year’s event!

Taking place on the show floor across the 2 day event, the live scenario based demonstrations in IEDD Demonstration Area will be delivered by active working teams across three dedicated areas.

First Reponders (HART) teams will focus on best practice and inter-agency co-operation for Police, Fire and Ambulance teams to respond to IEED threats, contamination and disposal.

Counter Terrorism specialists will highlight the civilian or LEO approach by showcasing cutting edge technology and equipment and the military approach will be demonstrated by the MOD EOD team and will be focusing on EOD and CBRNE containment and use of UGV’s in a combat setting.

This live feature of Counter Terror Expo will host over 15 demonstrations of the latest and most innovative technologies in device or threat identification, search, containment and neutralization.

The location and destruction of a threat or device has one key critical consideration, and that is to keep the operator safe and as far away from the blast zone as possible. The latest innovations go further and further towards neutralizing that risk.

ROV’s advance as fast as the latest technology, see the newest developments in our specially constructed demonstration area, complete with multiple terrains to really show off not only what these machines can achieve, but who they can keep safe in the process.

For threat diagnosis, containment and disposal and for when the risk of sending in an operator to an unknown location is too high. Recon Robotics, Microdrones and Qinetiq are among the companies who will talking us through their live demonstrations

The MOD EOD team will be joining us to showcase how Hook and Line solutions can be employed in situations where either the remit is too complex for an ROV or the aim must be to preserve forensics.

Perhaps the last barrier to personal injury if often the protective suits worn by operators sent in when only a human touch will do. To mitigate the risk to the operator, protective suit techonology has to evolve in line with the latest threat being used, be it chemical or explosive.  Visitors will be able to see the most innovative of these designs being put through their paces within the IEDD Demonstration area.

Stepping away from technological advancements, RFA dogs and LAPA K9 Dogs will be showing how Explosive detection dogs can be an effective and efficient tool not only to search vehicles, buildings, routes and luggage, but to act as a deterrent to a terrorist threat.

The IEDD Demonstration area will be a vital part of a visitor’s day to Counter Terror Expo and it is perhaps the best way to see how these vital solutions operate in a live situation.
