The Geneva Airpark is designed to handle both short and long stopovers of business aircraft at Geneva’s international airport safely and efficiently.

To allow as much natural daylight as possible into the hangar, a Butzbach sliding door in the fibreglass colour Brilliant was installed. The high translucency of the fibreglass panels distributes the natural light softly throughout the hangar, without casting shadows, creating a pleasant atmosphere inside the aircraft hangar during the day. The six door leaves of the 140 metre wide and 22 metre high door system run on three continuous door rails. A truck door was installed in the door system to give smaller vehicles access to the hangar while leaving the sliding door closed.

As well as the sliding door, Butzbach installed its VARIOPLANplus façade system over a total area of 900 m², again in the colour Brilliant. These façade elements on the side and rear walls of the hangar increase the levels of natural light inside the hangar and, together with the translucent door system, help to reduce lighting costs for the hangar’s interior. In combination with the very good thermal insulation properties of fibreglass, this makes a significant contribution towards making the building energy-efficient.
