Helicopter hangar doors – even extraordinary requirements are daily business for door specialist Butzbach.

Be it for a representative hangar for private or business helicopter, a service building for maintenance and refurbishment, or a production hall for an Airbus A380, the requirements on doors for helicopter and aircraft hangars mainly concentrate on functionality and reliability in operation, but also more and more on a high-class appearance.

The expectance is of course that such a construction proves its qualities over several decades, both in technical and visual aspects. With a large number of recent projects within and outside Europe, always made-to-measure on individual demand, the German door specialist Butzbach could consistently expand its position as a market leader over the last years, with now more than 750 references built worldwide.

When speaking about doors with long lasting reliable operation, bespoke design and individual set-up for any size and application, then solutions made by Butzbach are often first choice for the owners of business helicopters, airports, aircraft manufacturers, MRO companies and military installations. The doors can be executed as sliding doors on rails, with unlimited opening width due to the possibility of adding any number of door sashes. Another option for opening widths up to 15 m is the stacking door, with door blades parking vertically in a space saving and self-bearing way behind the lintel.

The company, which sets a value on the fact that each door comes completely from own design, fabrication and assembly, can offer the choice of various accessories and set-ups, thus always offering the best solution for each single application. A special infill coming from ingenious production is fibreglass, a material which excels in low weight, high performance in thermal and sound insulation, and a light transmission of 78%. Very beneficial for airports is its radar-reflection free characteristic.

Optionally alternative claddings are possible, such as sandwich panels or trapezoidal sheet metal. In all areas the doors can be equipped with mineral glass windows, ribbon windows or integrated door-in-door solutions. Using low-weight aluminum frames the corrosion resistance is guaranteed without the need of any maintenance.

Due to transmission of the structural door weight into the foundation there is no or only very reduced static load on the building, leading to a reduction of building cost. This is also ideal in case of renovation: When changing an existing door no or only limited adaptations on the building itself are required.

Many optional complements, such as burglar resistance until resistance class 3 or the combination with other door or facade constructions make the individual design perfect.

“With a precise analysis of the individual needs we avoid over-engineering and can develop a suitable made-to-measure solution” states Thilo Butzbach, managing director. “Here we demand of ourselves the highest level of quality. Made in Germany is our claim in each phase of a project, from the design to the implementation, made by one company. The objective is the maximum reliability in operation for our customer. That is also the base for our maintenance service: with our own customer service network and the close cooperation with our partners we can assure a fast and reliable service in nearly every country worldwide.” Press release pictures downloads www.butzbach.com/media/butzbach_helicopter.zip
