150 training positions for 2011 still open

DFS Deutsche Flugsicherung GmbH plans to train 150 new air traffic controllers next year. Some trainee positions are still available this year. Candidates who have a university-level entrance certificate, are younger than 24 and have a good level of English can apply to DFS at any time.

Air traffic controllers at DFS work either in the tower of one of the 16 international airports or in one of the four radar control centres. The tower controllers issue clearances and instructions to aircraft that are taxiing, taking off and landing; they can directly see the aircraft. After take-off, the controllers in the control centre take over. Using state-of-the-art radar systems, they control aircraft in the airspace. Aircraft are guided safely through the air until they are handed back over to a tower controller shortly before landing.

All applicants participate in a multi-stage selection procedure. Candidates who are willing to work shifts and relocate will discover an interesting job with responsibility and job security, which is also very well paid.
