At the ISE trade fair in Amsterdam, Ikusi and Samsung Electronics showcase their joint solution for airport information

From 10 to 12 February at the Integrated System Europe (ISE) trade fair in Amsterdam, Ikusi and Samsung Electronics will be showcasing their airport information solution that incorporates Ikusi’s dolphin FIDS directly into Samsung SMART Signage without any need to use an external PC.

This solution makes the dolphin FIDS compatible with the new smart controller technology embedded in Samsung Electronics’ DMD Series professional signage displays featuring the second generation Samsung Smart Signage Platform (SSSP), Samsung Electronics’ integrated digital signage platform, resulting in additional capacity for incorporating content in real time.

This new functionality provides airport managers with a host of advantages, such as time savings in the updating of information and the simplifying of installation and maintenance costs with the resulting cost savings. Passengers will also have constantly updated information about flight departure and arrival times.

Ikusi, a recognised IT specialist in the airport sector and provider of innovative solutions by means of in-house developments and alliances with partners, has undertaken to develop the new functionality and has modified the software in its recognised dolphin FIDS for airport information to make it compatible with Samsung Electronics’ second generation SSSP professional signage displays.

An additional innovation built into it is the possibility of the operator sharing the information with other players in the airport business (airline companies, handling agents, etc.) and in the mobile environment (smartphones, tablets, etc.).

In addition to the functionalities described, Ikusi’s dolphin solution has also been designed to make the FIDS compatible with an advertising content module; this enables the installation of the system to be capitalised on by means of direct income from advertising and indirect income brought by the increase in commercial activity.
This passenger information system is completed with an automatic PA system that uses not only pre-recorded messages, such as text-to-speech in various languages and dialects, but also an information system of interactive kiosks across the airport to improve passenger experience.

What is more, in terms of facilitating the deployment and capitalising on the system by the airport operator, dolphin is equipped to work in local or remote hosting environments and with models of use adapted to the needs of each customer.
