Engineered Access Covers and Surface Water Drainage Systems

Company Gatic
Date 29.04.2012

Gatic joined forces with parent company Alumasc Group for this years Ecobuild.

As ever, we enjoyed exploring the ecologically minded innovations that our industry is producing, as it becomes increasingly climate conscious. We felt proud to be amongst a thriving and constantly re-invigorating community that is eager, overall, to meet the green challenge.

We are often asked how green our Slotdrain products are at Gatic, and the answer is, very. We don’t take ecological responsibility lightly and are always striving to upgrade and update our products and manufacturing so that our impact on the environment can reduce year on year.

Innovations aside, here are some of the ways that Gatic already meets the Green challenge:

Less Pipework: Perhaps most importantly, our Slotdrain system is one of the few on the market that not only captures surface water flow, but also acts as a conduit carrying water around a site. Crucially for the environment, this eliminates the need for a parallel set of pipework to be installed to carry water. Production necessity is halved, therefore representing a great saving on materials and energy used.

Energy Consumption: Slotdrain is mechanically assembled, which eliminates welding and minimizes energy usage in the manufacturing process.

Recycled Content:  Our products manufactured from sheet steel are 100% recyclable. The steel sheets we use for manufacturing already contain a significant proportion of recycled materials, as do our ductile iron and plastic supplies.

As you can see our products have good ecological credentials by their very design, but we are always working on further ways to ensure our work has reduced impact on the environment.
