ERA company (a member of OMNIPOL group) in a consortium with GISS, and Polish Air Navigation Services Agency (PANSA) have signed a contract for a project WAM South in Poland within the exhibition Airspace World 2026 in Lisbon, on May 27. ERA acting in the consortium with Polish company GISS will deliver a Wide Area Multilateration/ADS-B system to cover the airspace above the southern part of Poland, including the Terminal Manoeuvring Area of the Kraków International John Paul II airport. This is another important step towards ensuring the safety of Polish airspace.
As part of the continuation of PANSA’s planned development path, following a technical dialogue procedure, PANSA have signed a contract with a consortium comprising: GISS Sp. z o. o. (Consortium leader) and ERA a. s. (Consortium member) for the supply of the WAM/ADS-B System, Phase 2 South, to provide surveillance services in the southern region of the FIR Warsaw.
The heart of the system is ERA’s system MSS-5, the latest generation of the world-wide recognized and proven Multi-sensor Surveillance System by ERA. The system will provide coverage using both multilateration and ADS-B technologies across the entire area of responsibility of TMA Kraków East and TMA Kraków West, with an additional buffer zone enabling the monitoring of aircraft prior to their entry into the area of responsibility.
ERA is a well-known supplier in Poland, where, in cooperation with GISS, has obtained experiences thanks to the previous projects: surface monitoring system functioning at the international Warsaw Chopin Airport since 2018 and the previous project WAM West providing coverage of western part of Poland’s airspace for TMA Poznan deployed in 2024, along with the expansion of the system, completed in 2026.
