Welcome to the fifth issue of the EUROCONTROL e-Newsletter. This newsletter aims to keep you abreast of news and developments at EUROCONTROL as well as to provide you with the latest European air traffic and delay figures.

2011 is already proving to be a busy year for EUROCONTROL, with work on our institutional reform, on preparing for the introduction of the Performance Regime, on seeing how the developments coming out of SESAR can be implemented, on looking ahead to how research should be organised in the longer term, on bedding down our new internal organisation… And that’s on top of our normal activities!

Volcanic ash crisis exercise

One year on from the eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano the EC, EUROCONTROL, and EASA participated in a major ICAO crisis exercise to validate changes and improvements to the volcanic ash contingency plan and procedures.

FOCUS ON

European Aeronautics Days, 30 March-1 April 2011, Madrid

The sixth European Aeronautics Days (Aerodays)brought together aeronautics stakeholders, ministries, agencies and R&D centres from all over Europe and overseas. It was a great success, with around 1,600 visitors – far in excess of what was expected.
