FAUN - Built for the toughest challenges

FAUN will participate in the International Trade Exhibition for Airport Equipment, Technology, Design & Services – Inter Airport – from 8 – 11 October 2019 with the runway sweeper TERRAJET.

The FAUN TERRAJET is a sweeper specially developed for airports. The TERRAJET can be used for the suction cleaning of all operating areas and operates with a working speed of up to 40 km/h. The sweeper can be used for the suction cleaning of all operating areas. This means that it can be used even at heavily frequented airports between landings and take-offs without noticeable restrictions on flight operations.

In addition, it has a special device in the form of a lowerable scraper device for liquids, which the driver can operate from the driver’s cab and which optimises the collection of liquids via the rear suction vehicle. It is possible to pick-up de-icing fluid and other liquids. As an option, the airfield sweeper can be equipped with the AQUATHERM thermal wet cleaning system, so that it can react professionally to damage caused by overfuelling, oil spills or other operating fluids. Here, fire brigade and operational surface cleaners often work hand in hand to replace or at least supplement labor and personnel-intensive manual cleaning with granulates with professional thermal wet cleaning.

With the TERRAJET with AQUATHERM, a surfactant system for pre-spraying a suitable water-surfactant mixture is installed within the contour of the container. The instantaneous water heater with about 300 KW heating power heats the water sprayed at the rear by means of a high-pressure pump with 200 bar up to over 90° Celsius. The liquid intake system was optimized by the pneumatically operated scraper in the rear suction car, so that the intake of surfactant-water-pollutant mixture poses no problem. A heating device heats the fresh water up to 40° Celsius already during the journey to the place of use, so that work can be carried out independent of the weather and outside temperature.

Binding agents that have already been applied and incorporated can also be easily absorbed in a single operation with thermal wet cleaning. In this way, closures of operational areas can be avoided or lifted as quickly as possible and smooth operation and safety at airports can be ensured. At airports, parking positions, taxiways and, of course, aircraft runways represent an essential part of the operating areas, which require special care. The loading and unloading zones for freight traffic must also be clean, as they are under time pressure and there is a higher risk of accidents. The TERRAJET was developed precisely for this purpose.
